Shoes At London Fashion Week Sept 2010

Category: Events

There seemed to be a division between stylish comfort and out and about glamour at London Fashion Week this season.

In the comfort camp, brogues and ballet pumps were the order of the day – we even spied a few jeweled gladiator flats when the sun was shining. Wedge heels proved to be a popular in between style staples.

But killer heels will always have place at fashion week – it’s like a badge of honour, a statement that says I’m willing to suffer for my art… because it’s my life! Although, we suspect that the inclusion of a car to ferry from show to show may have some bearing on your chosen footwear. In the absence of such a luxury then there’s the popular option of carrying flats in your bag to switch in between.

Shoes were at the forefront of our minds, not least because Upper Street had a collection of skyscraper gladiator shoes designed by Jasper Garvida himself for his Spring/Summer 2011 show – you can read the full story here.

The excitement of the shows is one thing but shoe spotting is a whole other pastime. We were somewhat distracted by a gorgeous vision of purple coloured high-heeled shoes outside the Nicole Farhi show, before realising that they belonged to none other than Carine Roitfeld, editor in chief of French Vogue!

The statement shoe is not just the purveyance of the fashion crowd. Designing your own shoes at Upper Street means that you can be as fashion forward as you dare, whether you’re off to a catwalk show, an impromptu shopping trip or just lunch with the girls.

For a fashion-editor chic look, work the current camel trend from head to toe by opting for a pair of beige patent and snake round toe platform court shoes in this rich and timeless shade.

Guaranteed to have people focused on your feet, these purple, pink and bronze snake platform gladiator shoes would look simply amazing with a rich purple hue dress.

Keep it sleek but stylish and wear a pair of glossy grey patent round toe court platform shoes with a classic little black dress and trench coat slung over your shoulders.

Upper Street shoes come in a huge range of sizes from the petite 33 (UK 1.5) to the generous 43 (UK 10) with 4 width fittings. We also offer free alterations to fit and we’re so confident that you’ll love your final design that we’ll refund you if you don’t!
