The Stylists AW11 Shoe Designs

Category: Designed by Style Leaders,Events,Trends

To inspire you to create a beautiful winning entry for the Golden Shoe Awards AW11, we’ve asked some of our favourite stylists to design their perfect shoe for the coming season based on the AW11 trends.

Katy Lassen is a freelance fashion stylist and consultant based in London. Alongside her editorial work, Katy has consulted for several young London designers and counts brands such as ASOS and Office London among her regular clients.

Suede d’Orsay platform court

Katy works the Autumn Berries theme beautifully with this platform court with a strap in a bold colour-bock design of chocolate, cinnamon, dark purple and burgundy suede. “My design was inspired by  rich autumn colours – chocolate, cinnamon, dark purple and burgundy. I wanted the shoes to compliment the colours in my autumn wardrobe but also create a bold colour-block design that looks contemporary as well as rather retro. I love suede as it is so comfortable but also adds rich texture to shoes. I decided on closed toe for the winter months but only after a lot of deliberation as I really like peep-toe shoes!”

Kate Brindley is head of press at stylish department store Liberty of London. A confirmed lover of high heels, Kate loves to dress to accentuate her silhouette and counts Lou Doillon among her style heroes for her sexy, confident and uncontrived look.

Grey snake pointed court

Kate has combined two hot autumn winter trends, snakeskin and pointed courts in this beautiful and elegant shoe. Perfect for wearing for day with an elegant pencil skirt. “I love my high heels and wear them all the time. I like beautifully designed, classic shoes with a twist and as snake is back as the print of the season, I used this, but chose grey as an alternative to black. I’ve also embraced the pointed court which is back after the dominance of the platfom in recent seasons.”

Kate Lawson is a freelance fashion journalist hailed by Jigsaw Online as “one of the upcoming fashion writers to watch” during London Fashion Week AW11. Celebrity and events website, TheMediaEye.com lists Kate in their “on the radar” section as a hotly tipped Brit talent to follow.

Snake asymmetric panel court

Kate has brilliantly incorporated the jewel trend by giving her platform court a brilliant blue snakeskin front, heel and counter. “I was inspired by a retro-reptilian theme with edgy colour blocking of snake print metallics alongside one of may all-time favourite colours – electric blue. These heels are so “disco” that they could have stepped right out of Studio 54!”

Amanda Start is a fashion blogger and style advisor at The Online Stylist, regular contributor to the Upper Street blog and trend correspondent for Push PR. She is an advocate of looking good whatever your budget and believes that great style is achievable by finding what works for you, not being afraid to experiment a little and opting for statement accessories.

Purple violet suede brogue

Amanda has taken colours from both the Jewels and Autumn Berries spectrum and designed a rich purple and violet suede brogue with a Mary Jane Strap. “This gorgeous brogue would be perfect for pairing with mannish tailoring to echo AW11′s androgynous trend. The sumptuous violet and purple suede makes an interesting alternative to black for everyday wear and I can never resist a Mary Jane strap when it comes to shoes – bring on the cooler weather!”

Angie Smith is a trusted and sought after fashion and celebrity stylist working for publications such as Italian Vogue, Grazia, The Telegraph and The Observer. She counts Emilia Fox, Karen Gillan and Emma Roberts amongst her clients.

Snake pointed d’Orsay court

Angie’s sexy shoe is a combination of red, turquoise and natural snakeskin in an elegant d’Orsay cut pointed court with an ankle strap. “Inspired by all the snakeskin that’s around for AW11, I wanted to create a heel that was lady-like with a bit of a quirk.”
