Upper Street Limited Edition Snakeskins SS12

Category: Events,Trends

If like us, the words Limited Edition are two firm favourites then take a look at the three gorgeous shades in our new Limited Edition snakeskins. A perennial classic for a stylish shoe design, snakeskin has been given the perfect SS12 twist in three candy colours ready and waiting to be fashioned into a beautifully bespoke Upper Street shoe.

Choose from salmon pink two-tone – a delicate pink perfect for this season’s pastel trend, olive green two-tone – a subtly rich hue that would work for day and night and yellow two-tone – a beautifully bright summer yellow guaranteed to lift your mood.

To order your perfect shoe in this covetable finish simply create your chosen shoe in the Shoe Designer using our normal snakeskin where you want the Limited Edition shade(s) to appear, add the finished shoe to Shopping Bag and then in Notes, tell us which snakeskin(s) you would like and on which part of the shoe they are to appear. Standard charges for snakeskin apply.

Olive green and salmon pink platform court, Salmon pink ballet flat, Yellow pointed court

For the perfect day to evening shoe we love this platform court in olive two-tone snake with D’Orsay cut sides and a salmon pink two-tone ankle strap and counter back contrast.

Lift a ballet flat to new style heights by designing one in the perfect salmon pink two-tone snakeskin and add in a small black leather bow and trim. And for the sexiest of pointed courts, why not opt for the limited edition yellow snakeskin with a black contrasting snake toe cap – choose a 2.25″ kitten heel if you require less height.

Olive green snake two tone round toe court

One of our style savvy customers has already been indulging her shoe love by creating this classic round toe court in olive green two-tone snakeskin with a contrasting black leather heel – the perfect shoe to lift office tailoring out of the ordinary.

Wedding Shoes The Rock n Roll Bride Way

Category: Bridal

Here at Upper Street we are all about individuality and that unique element that makes heads turn and produces a smile and a nod in recognition of something special. This is why we love the uber fabulous wedding blog, Rock n Roll Bride written by Kat Williams. Like us she believes your wedding should be about you, your style, your own taste and not dictated by industry, the latest celebrity trend or overbearing family members!

As part of our celebration of the month of love and all things romantic, we asked Kat to design six shoes for themed weddings that would reflect elements of the brides personality and style and talk us through her inspiration. She declared her shoe love in the form of these gorgeous designs…

1920′s

White patent round toe court

“The 1920’s was a time of glamour but with a quirk (drop waist dresses with sparkle!), so for my 1920s style shoe I didn’t want to go safe, I wanted to add a twist and a bit of quirk myself. To do this I chose a grey colour scheme and an almost ombre effect on the straps. I think this shoe would be perfect for a vintage themed wedding but one where the bride still wants to look up to date.”

1940′s

Monchrome peep toe brogue

“To me, the classic brogue is synonymous with 1940′s styling. I love the elegant suited look of the 40’s and I’d love to see a bride wearing one with these shoes!”

1950′s

Red patent platform peep toe

“What could be sexier than bright bright red!? I knew I wanted this colour for my 50s style shoe and the peep toe and bow combo is also perfect! I could see Marilyn Monroe rocking these couldn’t you?”

Gothic Wedding

Patent leopard pointed court

“Gothic weddings can often be assumed to be all dark and macabre, but that doesn’t have to be the case! So for my Gothic inspired shoes I wanted to add a bit of sass with the purple animal trim and sexiness with the patent black and the point!”

Girlie Boho

Blush satin leopard heart ballet flat

Ballet flats are perfect for a boho bride – comfortable and casual, there really was no other choice for me! I also wanted to add a girlie edge with the baby pink satin.”

Urban Wedding

Pewter & silver T bar sandal

“City chic at it’s best! This striking and modern shoe style would suit an urban wedding perfectly and the grey colour palette shows you mean business.”

If you’ve been inspired by some of Kat’s gorgeous designs and are planning a themed wedding of your own, get creative in our shoe design studio and produce your dream shoe that will stamp your style on your special day. Our shoes are available in sizes 33 – 43 and come with a range of heel height options to suit your needs. And don’t be worried about the fit – if your cherished Upper Street bridal heels need altering, we can do this free of charge.

Upper Street Masterclass: How To Design The Perfect Wedding Shoes

When it comes to designing the perfect shoe for your wedding day there are so many factors to take into consideration. Not only do you want your shoes to be as special as your dress, but they have to be comfortable, suitable for your venue or theme and they need to work with your wedding gown.

With this in mind, welcome to the first in a series of Upper Street Masterclass posts. February is the month of love with Valentine’s Day and this year, the possibility of a leap year proposal, so what better time to kick off with our “How To…” guide to designing the perfect wedding shoes.

Start With A Plan
Plan your look in advance and think about your outfit and the design of your dress. At Upper Street you can order swatches to ensure the perfect match or tonal shade of your choice. What sort of design would sit well with your dress? If your dress is not full length then you have free reign when it comes to the choice of embellishment for your shoes. However, long flowing hemlines, chiffon or tulle may catch on diamante, flowers or bows so be sure to design accordingly.

The Comfort Factor
Think about your everyday shoes – which styles do you feel the most comfortable in and which ones can you wear all day without your feet hurting? If a shoe style annoys you or irritates your feet, this is not the one for your big day. Consider your ceremony and order of events – a great wedding shoe is one you can walk down the aisle in and also dance the night away in later on. Upper Street offers 8 different shoe styles with heel heights ranging from a ballet flat to a 4.5″ platform.

Tartan round toe courts

Weather And Location
Not only will you need to consider your location as a variable when designing your shoes; don’t forget to give some thought to the one thing we sadly can’t guarantee…the weather. Is white satin a practical option for a winter wedding in Scotland? Think outside the (shoe) box and consider matching your shoe to something more in keeping with the venue. Upper Street can source other materials for you – opting for tartan would be perfect for a rural Scottish setting.

It’s More Than The Dress
Many brides decide to match their shoes to the dress but what about choosing something that reflects more of your personality? Try matching your shoes to your bouquet. That way, when the big day is over and the honeymoon is a distant memory, you’ll be able to wear your wedding shoes again and indulge in the happy memories rather than leave them languishing at the back of the wardrobe.

Being able to design your bridal shoes at Upper Street means there are no limits – tear up the rule book and be as individual as you like. We also can offer special orders such as inscribing your shoes and adding a blue lining. What better way to help make your wedding day the most amazing day of your life?

For more bridal inspiration view our bridal gallery to see more colours, design and embellishment options and then create your own personal design in Upper Street’s 3D Shoe Designer. You can also order satin swatches for that all important perfect match through the Shoe Designer.
