Upper Street Wedding Shoe Design Competition: The Winners

Category: Bridal,Events

Update: 5th June 2012

Cathy got married on Friday 1st June (see her fabulous wedding picture below) and has let us know the results of the raffle to win a pair of Upper Street shoes.

“Just a quick update on the raffle, which was drawn at the wedding on Friday. We raised about £430 for Martin House Hospice, which is utterly brilliant! The winner is a lady called Wendy Barnett and I’ll be passing her the prize when I get back off honeymoon in a couple of weeks. We has a lovely day and as you can see, I managed to get myself some shoes!
Thanks for helping support the charity, it means a lot to me. Cathy x”

Congratulations to Cathy from all the Upper Street team – we hope you have a fabulous honeymoon and well done to Wendy! We’re looking forward to meeting you and making your own design shoes for you.

The news you’ve all been waiting for… who won the Upper Street wedding shoe design competition? Well don’t rush to the results below – read this first as we have 2 winners and both Cathy and ourselves would like to tell you why!

After checking and tallying all the votes yesterday, Cathy Stevenson with her wedding shoe “Beryl” was the winner. We rang Cathy with the good news, but there was a hitch – Cathy has size 12 feet and we don’t have the last or componenets to make a shoe that would fit a size 12. However Cathy came up with a wonderful idea, as told in her words below.

“Thanks very much for letting me know about the competition. I would have loved to have a pair of your shoes as I’ve heard good things about you all! Alas I have size 12 man feet and I think I should be content knowing my feet wouldn’t fit into anything so dainty. My search continues! And until then I have the emergency pair.

As I can’t have those shoes made, I would be very happy to swap the first prize with the person who came second and raffle off the second prize for charity. I currently support a charity called Martin House Hospice, which is a local charity to support the families of children who are terminally ill or severely disabled.

The reason I support Martin House is because of Alfie Oliver, who is the son of my work colleague and fellow runner (we run for the same club) Rob Oliver. Alfie was born with Pulmonary Hypertension amongst other things and will only survive when he’s older if he has a heart and lung transplant. Rob and his wife Tracey look after Alfie on a 24 hour basis to ensure his wellbeing and look to Martin House for respite when things get too much. Find out more about Martin House

This way one person gets their dream wedding shoes and I can raise cash for a good charity as well as adding another fun element to the wedding. Wins all round!”

Cathy

To ensure Cathy raises as much money as possible, we’ve increased the value of the gift code to £400 and it also includes a VIP appointment at the Upper Street Studio in London, so please support Cathy and Martin House and buy her raffle tickets!

So Danielle Weekes will be getting her wedding shoes made for her wedding by Upper Street, Cathy will receive a £400 gift code to raffle for Martin House and Mille Womack will get the third prize of £150 offer code towards her wedding shoes.

Thank you very much to everyone who designed their wedding shoes and voted. Have a fanastic wedding day.

The wedding dress is 50's themed and the bridesmaids are red. I think the style reflects that.
