A 54-metre-high apartment building went down in a cloud of smoke on Thursday (June 14) when it was imploded due to structural damage.

The Bernavento building in Medellin contained 18 floors and 44 apartments.

The building had been constructed in 2009 and had been inhabited since 2016. Structural damage, however, required it to be destroyed.

Building residents were emotional as they watched the implosion.

100 kilos of explosives were used to bring down the building.
